Hi,

Does anyone know what the sound is in Lost Children that sounds like a boulder being moved? I have usually only heard it when they are moving rocks when building but now I am hearing it all of the time.

Somtimes when villagers exercise they move boulders...that could be what you are hearing

Thanks! That is probably what it was. I was thinking maybe the Golden Child was messing with me from the other side of the island! LOL

I get a sound time and again like a child crying. I drive myself nutty (far more than usual) to see if I can find the source lol

That sound starts off like the child is crying, then it turns into more of a laugh. I know my parental instincts came to the fore when I first heard it, and I went looking for what the trouble was, too. ;\)

I can't stand the eating sound. And in my game there's plenty of those, since all of them are adept doctors except the one nursing mother. I wouldn't have minded if it were slurpy, wet sound. It sounds like chewing raw carrot or potato, and it drives me nuts! There's plenty of other stuff in the food bin, stop eating those carrots! To make things worse, they make that raw carrot-chewing sound even when they're eating hot stew. \:8

I totally agree cuthbert. The biting into what sounds like an apple drives me crazy. It reminds me of people who chew with thier mouths open (a little pet peeve of mine)
I also hear children laughing when I haven't any children. LOL

Yes, it sounds like someone biting into an apple to me, too. Odd, really, as there's no mention of apples or apple trees in the game. I can't say that it annoys me, though; in fact I quite like it.

I sometimes think I hear a tinkling kind of sound when a mushroom or collectible comes? Does this happen? Or is it my imagination. My 7 year old daughter was the one to point it out to me lol.

Yes, others have referred to the sound as being like wind-chimes. Some have also linked the sound to the appearance of mushrooms or collectibles, but I've never seen any connection myself.

Its a rumor but from what i've found there is no correlation at all, sometimes it coincides sometimes it doesnt. I think its just coincidence that sometimes it just happens to chime around the same time a collectable appears.

Well here's the thing...EVERYTIME I hear the sound I find a mushroom but no collectables but I sometimes find mushrooms without the sound so maybe it's a once in awhile thing with the mushrooms??

Actually let me add that I do find collectibles when it sounds...and everytime and I mean EVERYTIME I hear it I find something. It may take me a few secs to find it but I do. If it's everytime then it seems like it couldn't be a coincidence huh? Maybe I'm just special lol

seriously...there is no correlation. Its just coincidence i tested this thouroughly. I've actually had items and mushrooms pop up right while i was watching the screen, and no wind chime noise. I also have heard it many times only to find nothing on the screen. I really do think its all pure chance..but hey i've been wrong before. It was a reallllllly long time ago, i think it was a thursday. But hey who keeps track right \:\)

If you look next time you'll see at least one of the kids by the fire. They've probably thrown their chewing gum wrapper or similar on the fire. ;\)

Whenever a kids status is "look at the fire" or something with the fire you will hear a fire whoosh

That is just to cute. Chewing gum. I've heard that swooshing sound a lot by the fire. I never thought to see who was by it.
Also I watched the village when I heard the chimes, but still didn't see anything as far as mushrooms or collectables. I just thought it was just letting us know that Isola is a little mystical.

I always associated the whosh with the research table. You know, like an experiment with bunsen burners or something. It also seems to happen as I navigate to that area (5) as if now that I can see it I can hear the sounds in that area, too. Maybe just a coincidence.

One thing I find funny is when that kissing sound occurs about the same time as I pick a villager up and he (or she) says "huh?" or "oh!" And also when there's a kissing sound and then a villager is shaking their head somewhere saying "No" or "Uh, uh."
Cracks me up everytime.

hey there...I'm new to this forum and thought I would put in my 2 cents worth. Everytime I hear that whoosh sound I find either a mushroom or a collectable. It never fails. I use it to help build up my tech points and food faster. \:\)

honestly, i don't think the sounds are indicative of an item appearing. Ever notice that when you go by the research table, you hear the sounds of a chemistry set and clanking dishes? Or when you go by the pong, you hear a splashing sound? Frankly, I just think the sounds are there for effect or to correspond to what area of the map you are in.

It doesn't. lol I've heard it LONG before I've been able to collect bugs.

When I have my game in windowed mode, and pull up the forums, when I go back to the game, sometimes one sound is a LOT louder that the others. When it's the cicada, it's REALLLLLLY irritating! lolol

I offten her the sound of the waves when I scrol near the sea is my favorite sound and the sound of the water fall at the pool, when the villagers dive into the pool the splashing sounds. I love all the sound effects, also in PT in the nuresery here the footfalls of the villager costumerss on the ground.

If you want to hear all the sounds, just turn off the music...kids feet patter, and some of the booms you hear are from the research table. Make sure you check your scientists' life bar. They can get really hurt! Often the older and younger scientists get injured. Love the "Happy Whistler" near the huts! When the fire "whooshes," it's usually followed by childrens' laughter. The only sound that has every really eluded me is that cicada. I'm not sure where it is.

I agree, that the drinking "shhhluuuhhhrpp" is too much.
But I like the sounds very much. Even when I am not playing, I leave the game on so I can hear the sounds in the background, because I find it relaxing. The hammering of the builders, the children playing, the craw-birds flying, the water-splashes ..

And yesterday one of my villagers was enjoying the beach: he was walking near the place where the dry grass is to be found, and I heard him whisteling a tune!

Wow...I feel cheated! Why is that I have never heard the sounds of "cheering" or "whistling tunes" or the "slurping" sound when the villagers are drinking?

This is something new to me. I play V V 1, and 2 all the time, and have yet to hear the above mentioned sounds. The "cheering" sound would be a great addition to when they are celebrating accomplishments.

Any reason why?

I've noticed that sometimes the cheering is a little soft, and you can't really hear it with the music on.

Also, a sound that I noticed for the first time today occurs when you don't have the music on and you go to the map screen. You can hear wind whistling. I think it's cool.... \:\)

EDIT: As for the wind-chime/collectable correlation... this last time I heard it, I found a butterfly in the graveyard.

AHA! Thats who was whistling. I thought someone was walking awfully close to the house when I heard whistling. I've heard all the sounds but never associated the whistling to the game. I use a sewing desk for the computer and the small speakers are on the floor so sometimes the sounds seem to come from outside since the table is by the front door.

Today I went back to my game in windowed mode, and one of the sounds was extra loud. I liked it this time, though. It was the waterfall sound, and it sounded like a tropical rainstorm. Now I have that sound looping in Winamp. \:D
