This might sound really really silly.

I'm not really sure what the game of "Playing Tag" is all about. I have tried to observe the children in the village and so far I can see that the "It" isolates him/herself from the others after what seems like a game of running round the village in a train.

And then they go off and do their own thing..

And no... I haven't come across a game like that when I was a kid. \:\?

If I remember my childhood correctly, they are actually playing "Follow the Leader," not "Tag."

I would also like to see them play "Hide 'n Go Seek."

I'm not sure how it's played in other countries but over here in the UK it involves one child being "It" and s/he has to chase the others. If s/he succeeds in touching or "tagging" one then that child in turn becomes "It" and so on.

I agree with Borg that what the kids in VV2 play is more like "Follow the Leader", but they're cute so I don't mind :).

My Aussie hubby calls it Chasing. The person who is "It" has to catch someone else and touch them. Then that person becomes "It" and has to touch someone else. When they touch someone they say "Tag! You're It!" The word "tag" in this sense is a verb meaning "to mark". "It" is the principle player in any game who leads the action or has to perform the main chore (in this case, catching the others).

Follow the leader is when the leader runs, jumps, walks or does whatever and everyone else has to imitate and do the same.

There is another version of tag that I recall playing as a child, freeze tag. Added a bit more to the game as instead of being 'it' wen touched you were 'frozen' (couldn't move) until someone came and 'unfroze' you (by touching you).

If the person who was 'it' was able to catch and 'freeze' everyone, either the first person 'frozen' or the last depending on what rules were set up, became 'it'.

I believe there is another version called 'stick in the mud'. Basically played the same as above with the execption of how they were 'unfroze'. This was done by climbing between the legs of the person 'frozen'. This was real funny when if the person unfreezing one was caught in that positing.

I've also played theese two games in a pool, much eacher to play 'stick in the mud' in a pool, just don't get caught 'unfreezing' someone \:D

our freeze tag was when someone had to crawl through your legs before you could be unfrozen

never heard of the other
