I just got level 3 exploration, and I don't know what I expected - collectables popping up everywhere! That would be my dream! I guess it will remain a dream...
Anyways, my question is: What exactly does this new tech do? I still need one shell, one butterfly (not even a rare one), 2 pebbles and 2 beetles. Do collectables show up more frequently with this new Tech? Or do the less common ones show up more?

As far as I've noticed, the only new thing is that the collectibles will show up on the map screen. However, they won't spawn while you're there, so you'll want to just check occasionally. (They can be kind of hard to see, they're pretty small.)

Probably the less common ones will spawn more, but I haven't been keeping track.

Oh - thanks! I had no idea. Now it's much easier to just switch to map mode than to go searching

they won't appear in map mode if you just sit there watching it
