I have a villager named Hoto who is a Master Farmer, Master Scientist, and a Master Parent, and he has not shown in the game as an Elder nor has he received a totem. Has this happened to anyone else?

Well I just had it happen again with another villager, Lenock II, and he didn't get a totem either. I have moved Hoto around and had him do all three jobs successfully again, and still no totem.

You should check your statistics screen to see if the number of elders is correctly reported there. Is this your first one?

I just checked the statistics screen and it said 7 elders. She should have been number 8.

When you select her, does it show that she's an "Esteemed Elder?"

No, but I checked all three of of her skills and they all said master. Maybe she just wanted to make me mad because I wouldn't let her rest, I made her work all the time. lol.

That explains why there is no totem, but it is odd that she is a master at 3 skills and didn't become an elder. How old is she?

She is 76, but when she was 73 she became a master at her three skills.

How are you determining that she's a master in all 3 skills? By the length of the skill bar, or by checking each skill as preferred and looking at her description in the Skill line when you leave the Details sreen?

Well, you're certainly doing it "right!" LOL In that case, I have no idea. We didn't have any reports of "qualified" villagers not attaining elder status during beta. Hmmm....I don't suppose you'd like to try making her work in each of those areas just a bit more and see if she makes master? But you'd better do it quickly, before she dies. There will be a slight change to the way masters are calculated in the update that's coming, but that doesn't help you now.

OK, I did a count in my game. I have 50 Totems, and my statistics list 50 Elders. I have 35 dead elders and 15 LISTED Elders alive in the game. In addition, I also have these three: 1. Hoto: Master Farmer, Master Scientist, Master Parent (currently selected as Master Scientist and showing as such). 2. Topa: Master Farmer, Master Scientist, Master Parent (currently selected as Master Scientist and showing as such). 3. Kuruk: Master Farmer, Master Scientist, Master Doctor (currently selected as Master Scientist and showing as such). The three I have listed above have no totems, and I have searched the ocean, the lagoon, and all the green areas.

By the way...reading some of the other posts in this thread. All three of the ones I listed in the abive post show as masters in their fields by actually visually seeing it in words when that is selected. Also, Hoto is in his 50's, Topa I believe is about 48 and Kuruk is 66.

Your situation is easy to explain: the game has a limit of 50 totems. Any elders that are produced after that number won't count in the stats and won't produce a totem.

But will it show them as an "Esteemed Elder" on screen or just as their selected job?

I haven't actually tested getting more than 50 elders, and you're the first one that I know of who has done it. If it doesn't say that they are esteemed elders, then I would have to assume that the limit applies to their title, as well.

There are 8 people on the leaderboard who have 50 listed, and even one who has 51 (golden child rerun?). Oh well...if anyone who has 50 elders wants to post and tell me what their board says, i'd certainly be interested.

She already died, I tried to make her skill higher before she died but no luck. But that is ok because right after she died I found two rare items right in a row and completed two of my collections. Thank you for your help.

I have gotten all 50 of my Totems and have around 20 people who have mastered 3 of the jobs. On my game they do not get a title of esteemed elder only master of the job slected.
Lady could answer a ? for me?
I am on the leader board and have jumped up and down from 2nd to 9th place. What is the second criteria for the leader board after elders?
My tribe is Golden Land

Yeah, the limit for elders/totems is 50. I believe the secondary sort for the leader board is babies, but I didn't actually set it up.

I just got my what should have been my 51st elder, but it just reads master in the latest description. Wish I'd known about the limit...I feel like I've been wasting my time training up villagers to make elder. Several would have been on the verge, but now it's for nothing. I, too, saw people on the leader boards w/51, and assumed their was no limit. I can see the limitations w/the totems, but why with them becoming elders? Now I can't move up on the leader boards, can I?
