88 minutes till new crops?!? Why so long? Does it matter who is working on the crops at the time? Do I need more master farmers?

It's 60 Minutes to a to a "Village Year" I think... that's why it takes so long.
I generally let my farmers build Research Skills whilst waiting for the crops to appear. I don't think it grows quicker even if u have many Master Farmers tending to it.

The faster your farmers clear away the crops the longer the wait will be until the next crop. You might consider switching one or more of your farmers to other work, especially during the fallow period, unless farming is the only skill they need to gain Elderhood.

Thanks for the tip Arnie, I usually have 3 or 4 people clearing crops because of the large time gap I have no food... but this is a good idea I'll try it

I had always wondered why my people never had food and such long wait times.

I don't think that really saves any food by cutting down on the number harvesting, it just cuts down on the wait time. Having fewer farmers also helps spread out the food stocks, make them more easily manageable. Instead of your food jumping to quite a high figure then dwindling to almost nothing while there are no crops, you can keep the food level almost steady. It also helps get master farmers more quickly. Instead of many, only one or two are doing the work, so they will learn faster.

Hey hey now guys, just so you know, you dont have it that bad, after a freeze glitch in my game ,, im now running on a 650 hour timer,, i would kill for 88 min
and did anyone notice that each basket of food the farmers pick counts as 10 food , in the first vv, it was only a couple not sure exactly, makes the crops go away faster, but still counts as same ammount of food.
