I have a question. I am working on my first game and got to a max population of 19. Several of my people have died and I am trying to repopulate the island. However, no matter how much I try, I cannot get them to reproduce. What's going on? I am down to only 16 now and I am concerned for them. Is there something I'm not aware of that keeps them from making babies?

How old is the mum? They will not have babies after a certain age.

oh that's been changed in VV2?
In VV1 didn't matter how old any girl/woman over 18 could have babies no matter how old.
More realistic if after a certain age you can't.

Yep, that is a new "feature". Makes you plan more ahead as well.

I set the skill to one of my guys to parenting

and 3 females had babies in 6 minutes

I now only have males able to work


as the other children are too young... I have only 4 workers at present
1 researching + the baby maker lol
1 building
and up the tree getting coconuts lol

Never, never, never teach a male how to "parent", as once they learn, they'll just keep doing it. Well unless you are far enough along you can support a baby boom!

One day I went to sleep (what was I thinking)and my population went from 16 to 5 no expleniation fire was up food was plentiful just woke up and they were all dead. Had four men and one women. For some reason she would only mate with the esteemed elder so now my population is up to 12 all from those two. Everytime that poor woman put the baby down he was all over her again. I am hoping when I have to mate siblings, the result isn't a baby with four arms. Goddessjuno

I only set it as an experiment and left the room for a few minutes !!
I've now set him to building hopefully he wont have the energy....or am I talking about the builder in my life lol

Thanks for all the advice. However, I have tried every female over 18 and have set a male to parenting. Still only have 16 and my kids are about to be old enough to work, one baby about to "hatch" and there won't be any kids around to collect things. What am I missing? 11 out of 16 puzzles completed and all except two are on the second level - farming and engineering on the 3rd level. Do the men stop reproducing at a certain age too?
