Is it better to leave the game on regular time or put it on 2x speed? and if so for what amount of time? ie. Should I leave it on 2x speed when I go to bed? And what effect (if any) does quitting the game (as opposed to closing to the menu and minimizing) and then restarting it 5-6 times day have on the game?

Don't think it has any effect on the game if you close down rather than just minimise it.
I tend to put it on 2xspeed if I am playing it, 1xspeed if I am going to be away for a little while and either half speed or pause overnight, just in case something catastrophic happens and I'm not there to sort it.

Yeah it just seems if I quit the game and check back later, they are geting more done as opposed to minimising it. I could be wrong.

When I go to bed or go to school, I put it on half speed and if im gone for a few hours I put it on normal speed pr when I'm doing stuff at home I'll leave it at 2x speed. This way I'm sure that not every one of my tribe member are dead the next time I turn on the game! hihi

Jasmine...when you are home do you quit the game or just minimise it? I was wondering if that had any effect on the villagers getting more done when the game is off.

I minimize it. They just keep on going with their business just like when the game is turned off... hihi
