Though just a newbie, my significant other and I are so into our second game that we are documenting everything, which includes all matings, after we have started with our new villagers named after our grandparents and their children named after our parents, aunts and uncles. We document parents, times of the start and end of pregnancies, occupations of everyone and then detail documentations of deaths. Please assure me that we are NOT crazy just "hopelessly addicted" perhaps like others?????

I LOVE MY LITTLE VILLAGERS. I CHANGE THIER NAMES AND GIVE THEM BOTH 1ST AND LAST NAMES. I MAKE THEM FAMILIES. WHEN A VILLAGER HAS AN INFANT,I FIND OUT WHICH CHILD IS THIERS AND I NAME THEM FROM THIER PARENTAGE. THIS IS EASIER THROUGH VV2. BECAUSE IT SHOWS WHO THE PARENTS ARE NOW.
AND AS YOU READ MORE ON THESE POSTS, YOU WILL SEE MORE PEOPLE JUST LIKE US.

Hi blue_koka! I have read in several different posts that you can name your people and that you can find out who the parents are to the children (actually, I read that you could for VV1 as well -- the parents part, I mean), but I don't have a clue how to do that. Could you please tell me how?

When you go into the details screen for your villager, the cursor is flashing next to their name so just us the back arrow on your keyboard to delete the original name then add your own.
If you hit the return key afterwards this stops the cursor flashing but after you close and open the game again it will flash again if you want to change more names (or just don't press the return key to begin with)

Oh Yeah!!!! I love hearing from all of you...We so love this game..I think him more than me almost; he is constantly checking our people. I look forward to VV2; however; I got VV1 through a subscription through Gamehouse.com and it seems only BigFish has the VV2 right now oh well..until then we will obsess over our little VV1 villagers. Let me in on other little tricks you know and things you do

rwextreme, thanks so much for explaining that to me. I guess I really should have noticed the flashing cursor myself, but my eyes are always on their health or age or specialty. Anyway, when I only had VV1, I was reading these forums and I kept reading about people being able to find out who the parents were to the various children. Can this be done with VV2 and if so, how? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I have often thought about doin that however I don't change their names and heres why. When I came upon the ugliest little villager in VV1, I was going to name him oogly. Feeling bad about this I gave him my sons name instead. Stragely enough I became rather attached to my villager and when he died I was a little crushed. Don't name them after my kids any more should have stuck with oogly. Goddessjuno

In VV2 when the kids are 2 and start running around on their own, go onto the details screen and where their picture is- above left will be a picture of a little man and above their head to the right will be a little woman, hover the cursor over them and in the long bar at the bottom of the screen it will say daughter of 'Fred' and daughter of 'Wilma'

I've officially given up renaming my villagers (unless they have really ugly names). I can't think of any more names to give them! I started off naming everyone after characters on the Buffy and Angel shows, but then I got a whole bunch of redheads and you can't name everyone Willow and Oz. So now I take em as they come! Welcome to the tribe baby Zen!

Thank you rwextreme, I did finally notice that myself, but thank you anyway. I wish that would continue until they die. I have never written down the family tree and I think I have bred brother and sister together probably more than once since after a certain age, you no longer see the parents in the background and my entire village ended up being redheaded. I couldn't help that though, I actually started with 2 blond females, 4 redheaded males and one brown haired male and every baby born was a redhead! And since the only female old enough to breed was a blond and the only male old enough to breed was brown haired, you would think I would have gotten some blonds and brunettes, wouldn't you? But no, nothing but redheads. I have been thinking about changing the name of my village to Scotland, LOL!
