That's true Monk, I agree.
However, I think the kids still should be able to do more such as collecting firewood or herbs for the stew.

Question: I know that the adult can increase parenting skills by telling stories and teaching... but do the kids get anything for attending lessons?

I just found out about the lessons and I think it's CHARMING!!

LDW did a great job on VV2 and while the children don't have that much to do, if you played VV you know that the children were almost useless, except for mushrooms.

After all children need to be children, right?

Everytime I accidentally moved an adult to close to a child, I get the message about them being too young. Heck, when the kid is sick and I try to move the doctor to them I have to try 3 or 4 times because he/she keeps running away and I keep getting that message.

Can anyone tell me is there a certain way to have the adult approach the kid, like only from the front or only from the back. Or do you have to pick up the kid and place the kid on the adult?

Thanks for the help.
Are you sure you're not playing VV1? ;\) That sounds like the way that works.

If you drag an adult onto a kid the kids nearby will group together and listen to a story. If you drag a adept (or master) parent onto the kid they will show as 'attending lessons' or similar. The adult will go off to the science hut and collect something (like a fish or basket of laundry or piece of dry grass) and give a lecture about it. In each case the adult will gain parenting skills.

but it has to be an adult, not a teen(i think) 'cause when ever i drag a teen over a kid, it say they're too young. so it has to be an adult(i think)

Hi Arnie! No, I'm sure I'm not playing VV1. I guess I hadn't tried to drag an adult onto a child or a child onto an adult yet. I thought I had because I know a few of my kids have gotten sick, but I also make the stew that increases their health bar all the way to the top, so maybe that's how I "cured" the kids. I probably just assumed that I would get that message and was shocked to find out that the game added the features of "teaching" and "storytelling" to this version. I tried it out last night after reading this board and think it's a pretty fun feature.

Thanks for your help, though. \:\)

How about if you have to show the kids how to collect the first ?5 or 10 of something and after that if they see it they can do it on their own. I find it so annoying I finally see a collectable or mushroom and then its "Kid KID Where the heck have you got to now?" as they all seem to have gone in the other direction just when their needed and then when you do find them and get back you cant find the item anymore. Darn them there kids. Lol

There are many tricks to finding collectables. Here are a few that might help you

1. Once you have level 3 explore they show up on map view BUT you cannot sit on map view and have them show up because they wont. Just click map once in awhile till you see one.
2. If you dont have the above just pan around till you see one. Once you do
3. Click map, look at the kid friendly spots. The lumber pile...middle of the beach...coconut trees and the blue flower. Click the spot to go right to the kid. Grab the kid
4. Hit the number on the keypad to where the collectable is and it zooms you right to that spot then just drop the kid.

All in all once a collectable is spotted it only takes about 6 seconds to grab a kid from the map and hit 8 to go grab the beetle, or whatever collectable happens to pop up. And they run faster than adults so they are easy to spot on map view

keep bringing the adult to the children, usually twice does the trick. What I find helpful is when I see an parnet looking at his or her child and have the parent touch him/her, the parnet then will turn to tell a story. Right now, the oldest woman in my village is the one I appointed as teacher.

Thanks to you also, MochaJaw. I had (she just died) an elderly lady that was an adept parent, but was no longer having kids that I decided last night to be the teacher. I also have an elderly man whom I have researching, but I click the parenting box when I want him to tell a story. Once the story is over, I re-click the researching box and the kiddies run off to play. I try not to work my elderly ones too hard. \:\)
