people learn faster when the game is not on. You have to figure since the game is caught up on opening there is no goofing off done by your villagers when the game is not on. It can add up pretty quick doing the laundry and other tasks

I haven't really noticed it here in VV2...actually I've noticed it has been quite the opposite. (things run pretty slow/steady) But I know when I played VV1, I could go to bed - get up in morning and have accumulated numerous tech points and some had even become masters.

Was the patch to VV2 ever published? If so, how do I get it?
