I started with only one adult female and one 2 year old female - the rest males. Of course, the adult female is just about constantly with child which means I'm not getting any other work from her and the other female is still only 15 so she can't help out in the parenting dept. yet. I've been playing long enough to build the hut, the dam, the sugar shack, the scarecrow, and clear the briar. I'm not making enough tech points with only 5 working adults to buy any level 3 items. Will the algae bloom even tho' I'm obviously not over fishing? That would wipe me out. I'm doing okay on food and have found several collectables. How many times do you have to pick one of those up for it to show in the collections screen? Any suggestions to earn tech points faster?

You will get lots more tech points by using your kids to pick up the artifacts. You get 100 tech points for each one that you've already picked up once, but I think that I got 500 points for getting a rare item more than once! You only pick up a collectible once, and it shows on the screen, but you'll need four common shells (for instance), four uncommon ones, and four rare ones. After picking up one shell, the next one that is identical to that one will just add to your tech points.

You probably don't want your 15-yr-old to go off parenting yet, anyway. It sounds like you don't have enough adults to make that a good option. Get her busy learning stuff so she can contribute to society. Sheesh. Would YOU want your 15-yr-old to be pregnant?

Ohhh how I hated to "get her with child" and NOT be productive at all!!

I just LOVE runners - they get twice as much done as normal villagers! So it really upset me that I had to have her just sit around for AGES LOL

Collections = as far as I know - The First time you find a collectable it will show in your inventory - after that it just goes toward Tech Points. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

you are right mappam, common colectables are worth 100 tech pts, uncommon are worth 250 or 500(i forget)pts, and rare are worth 1000 pts.

No, I don't want a 15 yr old pregnant but I also hate to see the one woman pregnant over and over and over again. Ha! Like they're real. One baby she didn't want to let go. Was pregnant/nursing three years. Kept showing - nursing 0 minutes. I was shaking her, throwing her in the ocean, throwing her in the pool. If she were real I'd be in jail! I finally changed to 2x speed and then back to normal. Poor thing! I named them all after XFiles characters so Scully and Mulder have little red heads running around.
