I have 3 villagers that are Elders and have Totems. I have 7 more that are inches away from being elders and having totems. So the thought occurred to me...where is the best place to PUT all those totems so they din't get in the way? Anyone have any suggestions, because if you play the game out long enough, eventually you'll be overrun with Totems, won't you?

HG

Well thats a fun part......... put them where you like !! On top of the diving rock, at the seashore, between the huts, anywhere. As for being overrun, well we don't know yet LOL !!

I have been considering watching where the people walk when they usually go places and forming a type of "sidewalk" with the totems that will "line the way" to various places, but I have to solve all the puzzles first so I know what usable space I have to work with. Is there a designer out there that thinks this approach will cause any problems?

The only problem with too many totems is not being able to see the collectables. I tend to put mine on top of the diving rock or up beside the dry grass - at least until I've finished collecting!

It is nice they stack. The diving board is a great idea. I kept mine in the ocean. \:\) You would think sea water would corrode them.. but no..

Perhaps in VV3 it would be nice to have a special spot to stack them, and clicking on that spot would bring up a page showing the totems with captions under them commemorating the villager, the date, and the skills.

There is no problem with that as the villagers will just walk straight through them if they are in the way. LOL !! They all had super dooper powers or something Hehehehe !!

I usually put my totems of living elders around where the circle will be, I can just see the edge of the circle, so I use that as a guide untill I can get it cleaned off. After the elder passes away, I put the totem in their grave site to mark the place whre thy were buried. If ou still want to read the tombstone, click on the bottom of the totem, and it shows what the tombstone says. Of course, I hve only had about five elders alive at once, so I dont know how far around the circle i can go. I've read a couple other people put them on the graves, too, must be popular.

I haven't seen any collectables pop up by the dry grass.... Has anyone else? I am trying to find a place to keep my totems until I have all the collectables. I don't want them hiding them!!! \:\)

Thanks!

I've got mine flanking the Gong. It hasn't messed up any collectables.

No kjlyttle, I haven't either. The closest I've seen is on the beach by the coconut trees. You should be safe there. But I keep all my on the diving rock stairs.

That’s a good question! The solid green ones are hard to see. Are you sure you are not over looking it?

Ha, my first two totems (that's all I've got so far) are both green, and I've got them guarding the mouth of the gong. They are difficult to see, indeed...

You can place them on top of one another so that helps save space with the totems.

LOL I have the blue one with it's tongue sticking out. So I am not sure if that qualifies for "beautiful" but definitely strikingly unusual.

i like the one with the tongue sticking out...definately has a personality, and THAT is what truely makes someone (or something) beautiful

I've got three so far and almost two more. I've put them in the far north east corner of the graveyard but when I get more I'll probably put them by the sea or in other places. I like being able to move them around :).

Anyone have any idea how many different Totem designs there are?

I have 6 different designs currently - and they keep popping up the ocean!

I have 19 Elders, thus 19 totems... I thought there was only 8 different totems \:\) I guess I need to keep making elders so I can get the other two!

Just don't put them anyplace where collectibles will appear, like on the "circle" or by the gong. I was pondering putting mine in the ocean. I've got about 12.

I've got two guarding the gong mouth now, and two climbing the steps up the "diving board" rock formation. Not the steps the villagers use, but the bigger steps next to them. I think finding fashionable, well compositioned areas to place your totems is one of the funnest parts of the game. \:\)
