I don't know if it's just me but I am finding it very hard to get builders to progress to Master level. I have one, but the second one I am working on seems to be stuck on the adept level. I had him help on building the dam and the sewing hut, plus he build an ordinary hut all by himself. Since then I've had him almost constantly working on fixing the huts and yet he never seems to progress. Unfortunately I made the mistake of not having him work on cutting back the thorn bush, because I assumed he would advance to Master level without that. Is there anyway I can speed up his progress except forcing my population to grow so they will need a third hut?

Not much to speed it up, other then building projects. But builders can (and will) become masters just by fixing the current huts you have.

Unless you are close to a population level that would require the next hut, I would not grow your village just for that. It sounds like you have at least two more major construction projects comming up. So stick with it. You'll get several master builders.

I am having the same problem! I knew I'd need 3 master builders eventually so I made Villager the main target. He built one hut and the dam pretty much by himself, worked on the sugar shack alone for the largest percent of the job and now is cutting down briar. My Master scientist is younger. My poor builders are getting ripped off!

heh I have a 19 y/o master builder/adept farmer :p I love the guy already I set him to building when I went to bed yesterday when he turned 14 and he was a master builder when I woke up this morning

But on my older villagers I noticed it took forever to get master builders so now all my young kids do builder first, then farmer, then scientist. On the other hand, my first elder did it the other way around, so nothing's impossible

Same here. Though I'm not as far in the game, I've had one builder at the cusp of adept and master for a long while. It's even still saying 'This villager improved at construction!'. My Master scientist is at the same notch level on the bar, so I'm wondering why my builder isn't a Master.
So he's building a hut all by himself. Hopefully this'll pop him over.

I think I'm stuck as I've studied the guides and previously posted forum messages. I have two master builders and just need one more. I had two adept builders repairing the huts over and over to no avail. Dam done, thorns done, two huts done, crops done. Population of 16.

I also can't upgrade levels because it takes so long to build up tech points even when I have the kids get all the stuff. So I'm stuck in that no one will become an elder (they're close) and that I don't have enough tech points to get the things I need to progress.

Why do you need 3 Master Builders for the game?? Will that be needed to solve one of the puzzles?? Because if so, then I'll have to make sure my Master Builders all stay alive. I believe I have 4 of them at the moment.

yes you will need them for a certain puzzle in the game

Yep, same thing happened to me so I also now start all of them as builders. I ended up with 3 master builders and solved a piece of the puzzle (I won't say which piece so as not to make this a spoiler) pretty early in the game. Just make sure you click on the builder while they are still kids just in case they turn old enough to work while you are not playing it.

i started my builders out early and STILL have not worked up to master. they've been workin' their butts off now for almost 3 days and still at "adept"!

I have 2 that Should Be Master Builders - the "skill line" is almost to the end but they are still adept? Go figure - I have had these two building anything and everything in sight and they stay at adept.....frustrating LOL

The transition from adept to master isn't easily discerned because the skill bar "grows" in "chunks" as a villager gains skill. The chunk that they appear to be stuck on is where that transition from adept to master takes place - somewhere in the middle. It's not a bug, although Arthur agrees that it can be confusing.
