I just tried it. I put various children under the big purple leaf for a total of 15 times, in a row, one right after the other. The result EVERY time: Immediately a collectable popped up (including a rare beetle I needed--cool).

I afraid i have to call bologna on this one. I dropped a kid 4 times up there and got a couple collectables and thought maybe it was true, after further dropping a kid up there the collectables didnt change in frequency. Dropped him 3 times and nothing had popped up yet.

Collectables in this come very often whether it be mushrooms or other things. The time it takes people to grab a collectable, deposit and then grab a kid and drop them on the purple flower sometimes make it seem like its a cause and effect but its simply just popping up again. IMHO this is false.

Thanks Cindi, this really helped me get through a tough spot in my game.. my food was running really low and nothing was popping up. I read here what you said and so I tried it and I started getting things popping up. Mushrooms too Now my village is doing great.

And I dont think it is cheating. It is a strategy game.

If you have 4 kids, hit pause and place them on mushrooms or collectibles .. of the 4, 2 will carry the spoils to wherever they belong.

I haven't tried with more than 4 yet.. 2 on will yield only one item, 3 on will yield only one item.. 4 will yield 2.

I can "stick" my kids on the vines.. sometimes. It's hilarious cos if you stick them towards the bottom they will "zip" to the top of the hill and be stuck. But I ended up just letting the 4 roam.. then hitting pause and using my number pad to zip around to place them as needed.

One time I got a "rare" shell.. and I hadn't collected it before.. with all 4 kids grabbing it I got the "you got the last shell" pop-up _and_ 3000 points! That was the only time all 4 grabbed and held an item.

Now that I have level 3 farming.. I can stop hanging over the game and let it run by itself a bit ... TG cos I have spent way too many hours playing it with no time traveling :-)

Guess I'll have to actually interact with my family LOL!!

I personally think it's coincidence. I have more luck hearing the wind chimes. And that is even coincidence IMO.

Well, I just put 4 kids onto a red mushroom and 2 collected it, so at least there's that, and it helps!

Yeah, the pause trick does work. I put 7 kids on a red mushroom and 5 collected it.

Have been experimenting with the pause trick. Works most of the time, although sometimes the object seems to disappear before I get them all there, so only the first one will pick it up. Interestingly, I have two kids (out of six) who will NEVER pick it up, regardless of the order I drag them to it, unless it is a brand new item (in which case they ALL get it).
