You may want to read this first:

IF YOU STUFF UP BECAUSE OF TIME TRAVEL, IT IS YOUR FAULT!!

IT MAY NOT ONLY MESS THE GAME UP BUT ANTI VIRUS PROGRAMMES AND OTHER PROGRAMMES ON YOUR COMPUTER.

It is NOT recommended by those who actually worked on the game.

If YOU mess YOUR game up because of time travel do NOT WHINE, WHINGE, MOAN or COMPLAIN on the boards or to the developers.
It is YOUR fault.

Now for the tips \:\)

NEVER travel more than 30 minutes or a hour in advance. Even if you do a quick check after a hour, it will make a difference.

When you advance make sure everyone is healthy, cure those who are not. Check the fire, add more wood to it. Make sure you have enough food, maybe change jobs around.

Time travel upsets crops if you put your clock back, make sure you don't put your clock back or that you have enough food or alternative sources of food instead of the crops. In Virtual Villages (One), you could pause and reset and this wouldn't affect the game. In this case (Virtual Villagers 2) it does.

Be VERY CAREFUL when changing the time. Be especially aware of AM/PM changes. Using a 24 hour clock might help too.
What I do, if it's 2300 or more, I only take the time travel to 2359 or 11:59pm then play until after midnight, then advance how ever many times I want too.

Also check how many kids you have and what their ages are. You want to make sure that you have kids at all times to collect. When I have a child at 12 years of age, I then make another baby to replace them.

You need to check if anyone became a Master. If they did, you need to change their job before time travelling again.

I'm travelling quite safely and have lots of happy people ;\)
I hope this helps \:\)

If anyone else has any more tips on safe travel, please feel free to mention them \:D

If you don't agree with time travel or think it is cheating, please refrain from voicing your comments here. We all know how you feel and this is not a debate.

Remember, changing your computer may have very WRONG, NASTY and HORRID effects on your game and computer. You do this at your own RISK. You do NOT MOAN/WHINGE/WHINE/COMPlAIN or ask someone to fix YOUR PROBLEM if you time travel.

KIDS ASK YOUR PARENTS FIRST. DO NOT TIME TRAVEL if it is NOT YOUR COMPUTER!!!

As Lady Emz has said, people have been using this method with our games since the PDA days. We don't recommend it, because it does affect everything on your computer, including the operating system, the file system, email, anti-virus and other time-based applications. I have a special computer that I don't care about to do this kind of thing during testing, but I NEVER adjust the system clock on any of my other computers. It's just not wise to do that simply to make a game go faster. \:\)
