in the center of the island, there is no ocean, so instead of hunting fish, they can hunt wild game, or raise domesticated cattle, or something.....

GT could:

summon all the animals of the island...

call for help to rescue the villagers off the island...

villagers could pray to him and bring him gifts for rewards/skills/miracles...
