I picked up one of my villagers but I didn't know he was carrying a piece of the gong, to the gong encasement. So he dropped it, it was the one in the crate. HELP! Is it possible to get it back?

I've tried it, he'll say in his action line "Retieving a piece of the gong" But then he'll drop it, and think of something else to do.

That is one of two things in the game that will temporarily disappear if you make your villager drop them. If you exit the game or switch to another slot and back again, it will reappear and you can get it.
