here's my flag:  the blue is the ocean, the green is the plants n stuff, and the gold with an "x" through it symbolized my hate for the GC lol

Maybe there should be a choice of several flags, and you can pick one for each Tribe you create. Then the flag could be displayed on the screen with the list of tribes, and maybe even incorporated into the gameplay, such as flying above the science hut. It would be a nice "feel good" extra bit of participation for the player.
