Why they must die?

Hello everybody! VV is one of the best games I've ever played. Those little villagers sometimes are lazy or disobedient sometimes get on our nerves but they are always cute and lovely. Especially the first ones I think they are a kind of children for us. We raise them, we teach them, we worry about them. That's why I think it's at least ghoulish looking them dying in such a horrible way. Of course in the real life we are obligated to face the death but VV IT'S ONLY A GAME! It's really tragic watching them becoming an awesome skeleton! I think that it should be a way to avoid this end. It could be a kind of “hospital” where the elders could go and die a peaceful death. It could also be a way to “inform” us when their "end" is coming. At least before the first ones die they could easily complete the 15 puzzles and 16th could be optional. What do you think about it?

I know what you mean, Daisy, but death is a part of life, there's no getting away from that. I think deaths are handled pretty well in the game, considering. The villagers turn into skeletons immediately in an almost 'cartoonish' way that makes the death seem less personal. At least their (normally-portrayed) corpses don't appear! Seeing the recognisable body of a little person lying on the ground would be much more affecting than a Halloweenish skeleton appearing.

And the kids even have adult-sized skeletons, to further distance us from their deaths.

I have to admit, even after these months, it still takes me aback when one of my villageers dies and I see the remains. But what I love is the tender care given as the departed is buried by family and friends. The hardest for me is still losing a nursing mum with her babe.

The only time I feel a little down when a villager dies is when it is one that I was constantly paying attention to. If it was talented in many skills, a runner, or for anyother reason. If one of them dies and I dont really know them I also feel kinda sad because I didnt take the time to really know them and thier behaviors

The GC doesn't seem to age on VVI...how is he ever going to die? Why can't the gc be a female?

Anyone else here has info about hospital? 1st time I've heard of it... Yes. But I think it might be a [spoiler] to discuss; since it has already been mentioned though, yes, it exists. For specific details, see the explicit guide that LadyCFII wrote in the guide section of this forum.

Thanks Borg, I'll look it up...
BTW, my GC seems to be stuck at age 5... is anyone's GC older than that? and if an island event happens to kill him - as Tzigone mentione above in this thread - is it possible to make another one?

There is no hospital in this version of Virtual Villagers. It's in the new one - Virtual Villagers: The Lost Children

Fly, the GC will allways be stuck at 5. And no, you can't make another one, if you happen to kill him by an event.

Ok I guess the guy talking about hospital was either in the wrong area or was dreaming something up...
As for the GC, well I guess I'll be careful with islands events, as even if he can be a royal pain by throwing parties left and right, he still is handy for restoring crops etc...
Thanks for the info...

I really loved those guys. I know what you mean about missing the "special" ones. I LOVE the runners!

You don't have to end your game - at least not until you're ready for a 6th game: there are 5 game slots for 5 villages

I've just reached the point in the game where my first adult villagers have died. I was so attached to them, and it really was hard. Maybe it will be better when I have more villagers, but right now I'm mourning the lost of my digital "children". I understand that it's a realistic part of the game, I just don't like it. -E
