I don't know about anyone else, but i like a good orderly society. i have a few rules for my villagers, particularly for the lassies. Since i also play The Sims, i get good ideas to help keep order in Virtual Villagers.

Lassies:
- Since we have the mods for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, all ladies must wear the Mrs. Claus suits. no exceptions, even the children must wear them! I like Christmas!
- They must attend school, once per day, at least.
- If the population allows, ALL FEMALES must be farmers, no exceptions.
- ALL females must be foraging, harvesting/watering, or fishing. Any caught not complying with the rules, will suffer the stiffest of penalties - Nursing a Baby! Those who cannot nurse, will be forced to heal, becomming sick themselves at times, until they are able to nurse.
- All females must help clean up the beach, dig for tresure, water the flower patch, try to bear GC, and on occasion search for the fertility fish!
- Any female caught fixing, researching, or trying to remove a boulder, will nurse for their non-compliance to the rules.

Males:
- If population allows, ALL MALES must be Doctors, Builders, and Reasearchers. Any male born as a farmer, their trade must be changed imediately.
- Any male caught farming, Since you like hanging out with the females, will be forced to breed. No Exceptions!
- Any male caught reasearching, when all tech points have been fullfilled, will be Doctors! No Exceptions!

I daresay this one will only encourage the men to farm...

Gee, my laws are

~Beginning of village, everyone must be researching except 1 person, who forages.

~Farmer soon harvests crops.

~Farmer than starts fishing

~ All who have been researching must begin building. Children can be the healers.

~After that, finish village, with all women breeders.

~Birth of golden child, curse mother of him

~One doctor in village, one apprentice doctor (can be 14), Everyone else farmer OR builder. Exceptions "This is for Tom only Village", which all 18 or older must become parents. 17 or younger must worry about housing (tom village). Research must be done with the doctors, for no apparent reason. IT IS IMPORTANT ALL RUNNERS BECOME FARMERS

I like to have the villagers who are in black and/or white clothing be the researchers. Ya know, little lab coats. \:\)

Hmmm, I have traditions. I like to mate my villagers if at all possible. When a nursing mum has reached that "0" hour, I take her to the beach or when found, the lagoo for her to give deliever her child. Each child has it's father's name and when the child reaches 14, the child is immerse in the lagoo as a rite of passage into the communty. I try also to have my elderly relax in the garden, in peace as they pass from this life to the next.

When it come to the fertility fish, I throw all of my farmers into the lagoo and let them have at it. May the best man or woman wish

i give my villagers "true names". like if they solved a puzzle, or if they mastered a skill, i give them a special name. (like if a villager caught the fertility fish, i would name him/her "Great Fisher").

whenever a female is caring for a baby, i send them on quests, fist, they must pay respects to their dead ancestors, then, swim across the lagoon, and then, survive the rough ocean currents. after all of that, they get to walk through the garden.

then the children always have to go to school 24/7 (even if there is a celebration) the only exceuse is to gather mushrooms.any child that doesn't attend school will have to walk on water!!!!!

and i let the elderly, fist walk through the garden, then eat at the food bin, go swiming at the lagoon, eat the magical fruit, then they die peacefully.

Wow! I'm kind of surprised and a bit impressed by all the rules folks have. The only one I have is "if I catch you doing laundry again I'm going to make you do some real work". I guess I'm a hands-off overseer instead of a benevolent (or not so benevolent) dictator.

I like the lab coat concept of Alleycat though.
