Can anyone please tell me if the "statistics" in the game are real and if there is a list? I'm number 76 in mushrooms so I was wondering if my name is on a chart somewhere.

Also, how do we score "points"? Is it just a combined total of everything we do or should we be doing something more to earn more points?

OK..last question....
A few nights ago I heard a song playing in the game that I hadn't heard before. It was somewhat slow and had guitar in it. It was beautiful. Any idea who wrote the music? If anyone knows the song I'm talking about...is it an original?

The stats places are were you are for that stat. And yes, i beleive they are real stats.

I've noticed points (do you mean the tech points?) go up faster when you have a lot of researching going on. They also go up faster when the researcher is a Master Scientist. Does that help you?

Statistics in the game are on a percentile basis, I think. A number of people mentioned they'd wound up as rank 4 with around 1000 mushrooms. As far as I know, though, they are real enough for the casual gamer.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies, however, I still don't understand how they work. There are "points" listed in the statistics area. In the game there are "tech points". These have to be different because right now I have 1433218 "points" and 2892603 "tech points".

Is it useless to keep racking up tech points after you buy everything listed? Why aren't "tech points" listed in the statistics area? I am so confused. Is there a statistics list on this website?

How do you eventually "win" the game?

I bought my game online, therefore, I never received an instruction booklet, etc with the game.

Also, does anyone know about that song?

I just found the "Leaderboard" on this website. "Tech Hours" are listed. Now I am more confused than ever!

What does this mean....
Virtual Villagers Leaderboard (ordered by number of babies)!

It means that the top player on the leaderboard has the highest number of babies born in their village. To have your score appear on the leaderboard, you must have had more babies born in your game than the number listed for the person in 50th position.

The leaderboard actually says "Tech Points" rather than "Tech hours." That is simply referring to the number of "Points earned" recorded in the game's statistics screen (where all of the other stats on the leaderboard page come from, as well).

The music is original music composed for Virtual Villagers, by the way.
