I'm a fish tycoon player who happened to come here one day for advice. I asked about any other games I might enjoy and VV was suggested to me. I've been playing off & on for about a week and I must say that I am totally bored out of my mind. Am I too old for this game at 41? Is that what's wrong?

I have 5 puzzles left and I'm still unsure how I unlocked the other. Looks like they were just handed to me at some point. The idol and the ruins really didn't excite me. For all that work, I should have built the Taj Mahal! LOL.

Is anyone else bored?

Terri

Maybe if you looked at it as a challenge of managing people and resources (esp. in Hard Mode), it might be more fun. And no, I don't think it's the age factor; several of us are way older than you are \:\)

I am extremely old, born way back in 1959, and I am never bored with the game.

It would be a boring world indeed if everybody liked and got excited about the same things.

Mark is now crazy about City Of Heroes...I think it looks difficult and have no interest in learning to play, which is probably why it appears difficult to me, and this is ok.

Your brain is just wired for a different type of game...but don't give up on it yet, who knows, VV2 just might be more to your liking.

Hugs.

True that. I like FT, but get bored with it quickly as well. But not with VV. We are wired differently, praise God. \:\)

You'd better not be "extremely old" because you're born in 1958... you leave no other adjective than "decrepit" for me, since I was born "way-er" back in 1948

Grin. I am going to reply to my own reply \:\)

I do at times get a little bored with VV when I am running the whole game in half speed. Half speed is safe. I have had no heart stopping food shortages while on half-speed.

In full speed though I have sweated bullets trying to get my little villagers to Harvest before they all fall dead of starvation.

WOW! Thanks for such quick replies. Before the chemo, I thought a whole lot differently. Now I do get bored easily.

I don't have the game on hard. As soon as I finish this game, I'll try that! Everything has been coming so easily to me. I haven't had to make any difficult decisions, you know?

Thanks!!!

I like to make my villagers do wierd things once i made ever single villager a breeder and the only food i could get for them was the mushrooms the kids picked. many of them starved but it is always fun trying to rebuild the tribe.

Hello Warren.
Yes, I enjoy the differences in people. Mark and I don't see eye to eye on everything. We discuss these things, and get quite creative in sporting our views. Those are the conversations I look back on and smile.

We are as old as we feel. Despite when I was born I really do not feel old, nor do I act it...and at work I appear to be healthier than the young whippersnappers who want to go home when they have the slightest ache.

I was at my Yahoo 360 page a bit ago and reread a highlighted Post I had written in my Blog about Virtual Villagers.

I had to grin when read it. I did not know the game that well, and thought each game started with five villagers.

If anyone wants to read that post, or, horrors see what someone born in 1959 looks like, my addy is

[quote] What breaks the boredom for me is keeping a family tree; I even play matchmaker ;\) Right now I have a Hard Tribe. Because of moldy, spider bites and a balmy summer, my villages went from seven to two; a 10 year old girl and a man 22. As much as I hated doing it, I had to wait for Spice to grow up and at 18 mate her with 40 year old Dan. It was the only way the village would survive. Now, Dan has died, only after he and Spice had five GIRLS! \:\? It will be intesting to see how things turn out.

I also played Fish Tycoon first. However, my games there are all "paused" since I haven't played it in a while. One of my main wishes were either more tanks or larger tanks so that it would be easier to save fish I like or be able to find every species! (Each time I tried that, I would lose track somewhere on which I thoguht I found, and how many the software counted.)

I've been playing VV since last summer and have an original game still going plus several new games. Plus I have it running on different computers for more variety.

Good gods! You're old enough to be me mother! Hades, you're the same age as my mother! <eg> ;\)

I'll leave it to you to work out how old I am...<g> ;\)

<hug>s

Sarah

P.S. I can think of a few more: 'prehistoric', 'antique', 'ancient', 'dinosaur'... <ducks and runs> I'll, er, get me coat...

P.P.S. For all those who are bored (like me! <g>) and you fancy supporting another independent developer, head on over to TellTale Games. Unfortunately, I've played all they have to offer but, if you remember the Sierra classics Leisure Suit Larry and Freddy Pharkas then check out Al Emmo. It's a true homage to the Sierra titles of the mid-'90s (and Al could be Larry's long lost cousin). No, I don't work for 'em, but their games have kept me amused this past month (I've now played all of them, though, unfortunately...Well, I'm waiting for the next installments of both Bone and Sam and Max) And it's peeing it down here, has been for almost the last fortnight solid. I'm missing my daily walks (got another 2½ stone to shift, y'see...). GRR!! \:\(

Me too. And I work with students who do not have English as their first langauge. If he is only 13 and in the process of learning English, then kudos! Most kids that age who are learning the language are reticent to use the language so much, especially in written form.

As I see it, his main problem is punctuation. Once I figure out where the periods and commas go, its decent use of English even for a 13 year old native speaker!

Not me! I had an old friend (he was like my third father) in which he told me, "what ever you do, don't grow old." So I promised I wouldn't. And I don't like breaking promises!

OK Drought, this is not my best, sorry I have other things on my mind.

Poor TerriDean took some stick because of what they said
If they are old at 41 then a few of us should be dead !
It was lighthearted banter I tell you my friend
Don't fret or lose heart at the words that we send
The Idiot for example made a promise he can't keep
"Decrepit" Bajantara, the poor love, made us weep
Matilda plays it safe, wouldn't want to break into a sweat
And Bubbly does weird and wonderful things......a mushie addict I bet
It takes all kinds to make a world of this you surely know
So come on Terri, stick around, have some fun before you go
We always welcome Newbie's on this the VV forum
Heaven Forbid, that you should think that we would ever bore em !!
