Using Windows Explorer, go to the directory where Virtual Villagers is installed and look for files named Isola**.ldw (where ** is a number). There may be up to 11 of those files. The single-digit numbers are your "primary" savegame files and are numbered 1-5 (corresponding to the player slots). The two-digit numbers are the "backup" savegame files, and are numbered 21-25. There is also a file Isola0.ldw which contains settings. If you move the savegame files to another folder (it can even be a subfolder in the Virtual Villagers directory), you can start 5 new games. Time will continue to pass in the games that you moved unless you pause them. As I said before, you need to be comfortable with keeping track of your files, or you run the risk of messing up your games.
