Virtual Villagers allows you to have 5 games at a time using the Change Player function on the main menu. If you want to have more than that, you can accomplish that by moving the savegame files between different folders. If you do that, though, you have to be careful to keep track of which ones are which and avoid overwriting them, since the files will have the same set of names.

The mushrooms and Island Events are basically random, and are not player controllable. They also are independent of game speed or difficulty. The Island Events generally occur about once a day after the first few, but if you don't check on your games very often, they will happen much less frequently. I have games that have been running since July and I still get Island Events in those games.

Anothe website had the walkthrough and on it it sai you can change the time on your computer to make the time go faster. And it does. What I am wondering is by doing this are you missing all the events. Because I have only had 10 at the most and that is playing normal mode. When I played easy mode the most was 6. Any sugestions. There isnt much you can do except sit and watch the villagers. If you change the clock that the game moves quicker.

While some people do adjust their computer's system clock to make the game go faster, we don't recommend that. Not only can it cause significant problems with the game's real-time engine, it can cause potentially serious problems with the operating system, file system and other applications on a computer (such as security and anti-virus software). If you're willing to risk problems by adjusting the clock, that's certainly your choice.

Adjusting the clock doesn't directly affect the frequency of Island Events in the game. They will occur randomly as determined by the event scheduler in the game, approximately once a day under the best conditions.

If you're bored with your current village, you might want to start a new game and set some challenges for yourself - such as trying to finish all the puzzles except the graveyard with no villagers dying, or finishing puzzle 15 before you start on puzzles 3 and beyond (yes, it can be done).

If you do use the system clock adjustment, it will give you less events. That is unless you are only forwarding a few hours a day. If you adjust your clock forward more then 24 hours you will get less. That is because you will only get one event at a time. So if you advance your clock three days you will still only get one event. But if you don’t advance it you will get (on average) one event for each of those three days. Does that make sense?

The same is true if you only check your game every 3 days. The best that you can hope for is to see an event about every day. If you want to maximize the number of events you see, you'll check the game log every time you get an event and note when the next one is supposed to occur, then check the game at exactly that time.

Using Windows Explorer, go to the directory where Virtual Villagers is installed and look for files named Isola**.ldw (where ** is a number). There may be up to 11 of those files. The single-digit numbers are your "primary" savegame files and are numbered 1-5 (corresponding to the player slots). The two-digit numbers are the "backup" savegame files, and are numbered 21-25. There is also a file Isola0.ldw which contains settings. If you move the savegame files to another folder (it can even be a subfolder in the Virtual Villagers directory), you can start 5 new games. Time will continue to pass in the games that you moved unless you pause them. As I said before, you need to be comfortable with keeping track of your files, or you run the risk of messing up your games.
