I've just looked in on an old game I've been playing for quite a few hours, now. About a week ago I noticed the numbers were going down and there were only about 50 villagers left. I made a few villagers mothers and set a couple of guys to be to be breeders. Today I found there were only 22 left - one 75-year-old and 21 kids (including the GC). There were about 25 corpses strewn about. Looking at the log they all seemed to have died of old age. The old guy manfully started buying them, but only managed three before he, too, shuffled off this mortal coil. I've now got 21 kids running about over their ancestors' skeletons.

The oldest kids are ten, so in four year's time they'll be able to bury their parents and start working. A further four years and they'll be able to start repopulating the island!

Luckily they've got about 1,181,000 food stored up, so they should last.

Bad kids walking over there people, and poor old 75 year old guy.

And if the food bin does run down, the GC will create food or you can go mushroom hunting!

I've had that happen several times. But as you said Arnie, at least you have tons of food in the bin!

Just an update on the game.

I checked in later in the day when the kids were five years older. Most of them had already started careers but I made most of them farmers; I've no need for scientists and only a couple of builders for routine maintenance. Probably even they aren't really needed. Just before I went to bed I checked again and those who were adults I paired off. I also made a couple of males breeders. When I came home from work I found that the oldest VVs are now 30 and their numbers are now up to 82! Food is now up to around 1,250,000. They seem to be getting along quite well without me.
