I was going through my various villages doing "maintenance". Letting the dead be buried, checking to see if any are sick, making sure that the teenagers all have at least one task that they know how to do, etc. I spotted a villager who was 80 years old, and seemed healthy. But since I usually don't see them that old wandering about the village, I thought that I would see what I could do to keep him around a bit longer.

So I bring him over to the magic fruit, and he's enjoying it when suddenly... right before my eyes... he disappears and his skelaton shows up in the village center. Poor guy.

At least he died happy! I've had them die while I was dragging them somewhere - it's a little disconcerting to actually see it happen. \:o

A similar thing happened to me a few days ago. I noticed a 78-year old master scientist hobbling around slowly so I decided to pension her off as a doctor, and let her spend the rest of her life doddering around in peace. I switched her preference in the details screen and picked her up to take her to the cactus so she could gain a little knowledge of medicine. She disappeared and her bones suddenly appeared in the middle of the village. I can't help thinking the shock of being picked up was too much for her, or perhaps it was the sudden career change ...

im sure if your an old villager on the virge of death having the great hand of god/goddess pick you up might literally scare you to death. on one of my games i watched a 98 years old walk really far into the water and go under to "fish" and after a few moments I noticed he didn't come up so i went to the center and sure enough ... we found the note attatched to the idol saying he was tired of the hand of the goddess poking him around and that he left a buried treasure on the island. ... okay so there was no note but he did kill himself if you think about it lol

As LadyCFII said, at least my villager died happy. \:\)

You've seen a 98 year old villager walking around? I've only seen them that old in the stats, or sometimes on a grave stone. Do you know how you managed that? What speed do you play? How often do you check the game? What was his best skill? Was it checked as preferred, or did he do what he wanted?

I have had a few of the men folks do that when I'm in the middle of breeding them. Since I tend to breed the oldest men to the youngest breedable women. I get him over to her, drop him, hear a kiss, but there's no baby. So I do it a few times more and suddenly, boom, he's dead.
