I actually do a little background research on the names that vv turns out for the villagers and about 98% of the time they are actual names with meanings. So, in answer to your question I would have to say that Lanu is the weirdest simply because it means "he who runs around the pole."
Just in case you guys are interested, here are some of the names I could find meanings for: (thank to babynamer.com)
Paco -- bald eagle
Obi -- along the road
Dada -- girl with dread locks
Maui -- island god
Masou -- fire god
Anil -- wind god
Pili -- second born
Tanek -- immortal
Hawa -- desire
Akiki -- bright light
Zola -- clod of earth
Seven -- seven
Meka -- loved friend
Hika -- home leader
Lala -- emerald
Layla -- wine
Mazi -- sir
Aisha -- alive and well
Naoko -- correcting child
Aziza -- beloved precious one
Goro -- fifth son
Chi(e)ko -- a thousand blessings child, child of a thousand blessings, blessed wisdom child, blessed knowledge child, child of a thousand branches. (sounds like the GC to me!)
Nisha -- night
Kita -- favored grace
Kolya -- victorious people
Amina -- faithful, trustworthy
Tano -- nickname from "Gaetano -- a town in Italy"
When I have more time to lookup more (there must be a hundred or so!) I'll look them up too and post them if anybody is at all interested. Also, if you like I could post some of my "altered" names that I came up with for the game so that my villagers had names with meanings that would fit them.
I'm coming up with a story/journal and in their tribe the meaning of a name is a very important thing. Plus I just like names.
Hope you found this of some interest!
