I've been playing the game for some time - though I just registered on the boards today! - and my current game is giving me fits. I don't know what happened, but when I checked on it this evening, all my kids were dead! I had just started over, I had 20 people in the village, and was suddenly down to 15 when my 5 6-year-olds all died. I didn't get any kind of notification that they were sick, or that an 'event' had taken place. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but I was just wondering ... has this happened to anyone before?

you know, I had two villages die (or almost die) very suddenly on me the other day...they were both on 2x so that might have had something to do with it, but in the span of about 5 hours they went from healthy and thriving to either sick or dead

I have never had a child die unless it was with the whole village.That was because I had just started and I didn't check back with them for awhile.
But I had a child die when the mother died.
But when you were absent from the game,if you were absent for awhile it doesn't take much for a villager to get sick.
I take a look at the red bar at the top of the detail screen,and if they have lost any part of their life meter,I keep a close look in on them.

All of the children could die if there was a certain Island Event and no healers in the village. It's probably too late now, but the game log would have told you why they died. You can see this post for details about viewing the game log.

I found that I got an event every 24 hours and I think I was on 2x speed. So it really depends on how long you have been playing the game, but I found that they were few and far between
