Yikes! Your daughter probably won't let you babysit her fish again!

Fish Tycoon was our first Windows release, and we learned a lot from it. All of our later games have a confirmation dialog for the delete player button, and a backup copy of the savegame files. I know that doesn't really help you out of your situation, but it might reassure you about our other games.

If you'd like to know how to back up the games yourself (to prevent disaster in the future), follow this procedure:

Pause all player's games (since it may be awhile before those files are used, and you don't want the passage of time to affect them). Exit Fish Tycoon. Using Windows Explorer (or My Computer), go to the directory where Fish Tycoon is installed and look for files named FishSaveGame*.pts (where ** is a number). Those are your savegame files and are numbered 1-5 (corresponding to the player slots). There are also other files with the 'pts' extension, which contain various settings.

Copy those files to a safe place (for example, another folder, a CD or other external media), and you will be able to restore your games if that happens again.
