In the behaviours thread people asked about scrolling around the village without a lot of click and drag (i.e. just using the mouse to push the window in the direction you want to go...)

I use this method especially when I'm "mushroom hunting" but it works anytime.

Pick up a kid (any villager will do, but you aren't interrupting work with a kid) and with the left mouse button clicked you can "push" the kid and the window in any direction you want to go.

ahhh that is great.. the best being that when you've got a kid in hand, she's right there to get the mushroom!
