Well the Tradegy was i was playing you know and i see it was gana take a long time for the next crops to come up so i wroory and there is only 5oo food so im thinking ok put almost everyone on tech so i do and i try to gather berries wich there where only about 100 left so each time they would put them in the bin they wanted to go water the crops so i had to drag them over there about 15 times lol then the berries where almost out and i was at 30,000 ok so i leave them watering crops and they getting tech so i come on in the morning 1 person died -dont worry he was old like 59- and they have like 39,000 tech and the crops where almost there and the food was 100 and i freaked out now while doing this i was listening to the beatels-Hey Jude lol and i was trying to get some tech so on tht same day -yesterday- i got everyone on tech and almost got 50,000and i had no food and two pregnate women and i found a mushroom and the kid put it in but like a sec later it was gone so when they got 50,000 they all wanted to fish and the crops came at the same time so i was really happy but my q is when i had one person getting berries then they wanted to water the crops agin and tht happen like 15 times is tht supost to happen arnt they supost to keep picking barries and ignore the crops untill they come? whoo im tired of typing so i thank all who read and thank anyone who answers my q

they automatically go for the first thing they were trained to do in farming so if you only showed them how to get berries they only get berries.but if you make a berry guy go on crops he will get crops,so i guess they dont go for lower things

Usually when there isn't that many berries your farmers will water the crops.

Even when there are a ton of berries, once they're waiting for crops to come in, it seems their "first imperative" is to water the crops. So you either have to set the farmers to researching or building until the crops appear; drag them manually to the berry bush if you're short of food; or let them water if you need to give your farmers more experience.

I've found that the farmers will collect berries* or harvest crops or go fishing depending on on what they feel like (and what level farming they have.)

Sometimes I'll "encourage" one task or another, but I'm pretty sure that once they have farming skills, they'll eventually do all of the tasks on their own...

* My "established" villages will stop at 98 or 99 berries on the bush.
