Out of my initial people, 3 of them were female. Well, everytime one of them gave birth, it was to a boy. As the women started to age, I realized that one of them had better have a girl soon before I end up with an island full of men who can't reproduce. So I kept getting them pregnant and between the 3 of them, they had 10 boys....... The women eventually died of old age and now my game can no longer progress very far seeing how I have an island with no women on it. Anyone ever have this happen before?

Yes, others have. Keep playing and you might get a second chance. I think half-speed might give you a better chance, but I'm not sure.
