I've done that - had one village that had all Hispanic names - was my first hard village - all the women died but one - and poor thing stayed nursing forever - she kept having boys - finally she had a girl and hubby and I named her Esperanza

*nods* I have one game running where I change all the names to astronomical names. I.E. Bellatrix, Saiph, Nova, Nebula, etc. for the girls, and Rigel, Betelguese, etc. for the men.

My player name in that game is even astronomical: Mintaka. It's one of the stars in Orion's Belt.

actually, yeah! not all the time, though.

i did have one village where they all had greek names. and a celtic and an arab village too.

when i named the greek guys i ran out of names that i liked at one stage, so i called one of my kids 'winesos' (as in wine sauce) for a laugh. later i was sorry that i'd given him this horrible name. he was a runner and became a master farmer and then a master builder in no time at all. one of the best villagers ever.

Yup, my oldest village has all Aboriginal names...gets pretty hard to find short enough names once you reach a few generations in lol.

Oh, and another of my villages has Pernese names (from Anne McCaffrey's brilliant novels).

Don't know if this "counts", but I tend to start out with Biblical names. Adam is always the oldest male, Eve, the oldest female and so forth. Since the names are listed alphabeticaly instead of chronologically, it helps me keep track of ages simply by looking at their names.

My son I just noticed is using a "vegetarian" approach - all his villagers have produce type names - Mango, Kiwi, Pumpkin, Apricot etc ..... come to think abt it - thats how he names our animals too lol
