Cute! I bet if you played around with the images file, you could give them costumes or masks for halloween. Just have to be sure you save a copy of the original file if you want to change them back.

You can but to do that youd have to create the costume/mask in about 10 different angles, that is not so easy. Ive toyed with the idea but i doubt i could do that much detail but i might try yet.

AWESOME!!!! I seriously need to learn how to do that. Although then it would just make it that much harder to end the game.

Its simply iamge editing. There are two kinds of pictures and you will never know the difference. Mine are actually game pictures with my graphics. Others are doctored up images that look the same. Either way it is fun. I just released a Halloween Mod under the Guide section that LDW was kind enough to put a link to for me. I plan to make one for christmas too, although there will be no snow in the tropical island, but i can still have fun with it.

Heh, if you'r desperate for snow, you can turn the berry bush into a snow-on-the mountain bush, which blooms only at Christmas with white flowers; add some poinsettia, and little red fruit in the crops which would represent sorrel -- Christmas Caribbean tropical style

Oh wow theres Thanksgiving and Valintines day and Easter
Easter would be cool cause of easter eggs instead of mushrooms. oh and the red mushrooms can be those marshmellow chicks. candy for the berry's and stuff like that.

Very nice, but I would think that the villagers should be harvesting candy corn!!! and M&Ms. It'll look like they are trick or treating!

laugh* thats classic. Did you actually make the mask in the image file or did you photoshop it on from a screenshot?

I made the mask in the image file, carefully saving a copy of the original so that after Halloween is over, he can go back to normal. Maybe after Halloween a Santa hat and beard for Christmas?

If I wanted to, could I keep the mushrooms as pumpkins and revert everything else back to normal? Or would I need to be a Master Scientist to do that? Because I think I like em this way a lot better.

Village_Monk, I just tried the Halloween theme. It's cool! Specially all the corn. LOL! Looks nicer than the original turnips/carrots, actually.

Anyway... I haven't tried the Thanksgiving mod - will install it in November.

You said you were gonna try to do Christmas ones. I had a couple of ideas... mistletoes on the trees... holly berries on the berry bush... and maybe, if you can, change the garden from the current batch of flowers to wintry flowers and bushes.

Electricity isn't available on Isola, so X-mas lights wouldn't exactly be appropriate, but you could string up decorations on the huts. Maybe green and red colored balls where the little lights would usually be? Sort of a ornament-based popcorn string concept?

maybe have this cute little pine sapling on the research table (mini christmas tree)...

Oh, and outfits. I think at Christmas, there should be a red and green version. Dunno what the idol could be turned into.. A giant reindeer?

That's about all I can think of right now.

In reference to the Jesus', since I'm a Christian I think it's great but ... to include other players of other denominations if you were to do the Christian items. You could have a Star of David for our Hebrew players and something for those who celebrate Kwanzaa (did I spell that right).

Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not one of those people who want the word God or anything that represents Christiany removed. I was just trying to include others who might feel slighted or practiced other faiths.

it might bemore practical to give a non-religios interptretation for christmas...colored lights on the huts, poinsettas for the flower garden, a santa clause statue, piles of presents by the huts, decoration on the palm trees near the beach....

candy canes for mushies would be adorable!

Maybe its just my family, but cranberries are definitely a part of our christmas feasts too....so changing the berry bush might not be necessary....I think making the berries look like little candies might be difficult

on top of the school there could be a santa and reindeer and add chimneys to the other huts

and can the santa hats be mainly on the bald guys?

Like a lot of the Christmas ideas, but can we skip the chimneys... with coconut palms on the beach, seems to me it's a tropical island

then how does santa get in???

maybe they aren't technologically advanced to have indoor cooking fires...but on a tropical island its got to rain a lot, so it would make sense to have indoor cooking areas or they would have to constantly have to relight the fires

Hate to disappoint you, but houses on this tropical island I live on don't have chimneys -- not even in the pcitures of the old houses during the 1700's and onwards when the island was first settled and there would have been no kerosene/electricity/gas

Eyeshigh, you took me back too many years to count. I live in a rowhouse in Philly; this was my greatest concern one year when I was a child. We did not have a fireplace for Santa to come down; I thought that he would skip over us because he couldn't get in. My very wise daddy explained that Santa was magic and would be able to get in our house through the front door. I remember not buying this theory until he reminded me that he could go down a small chimney hole by touching his nose and that he made his reindeer fly. That did it for me; I believe.

Thanks for the reminder of the past and much simpler times.

When I was little my parents were divorced and we were supposed to spend one christmas with my dad in his apartment, and my brother and I completely freaked out because there was no chimney for santa, so in the middle of the night my dad had to call my mom and then load up the truck (tarp covering the back) and drive us 2 hours back to mom's house so santa could find us...

mom and dad say thats the night they started really talking again, and prompted them to get remarried

chimneys have always worked to my advantage

there are 42 different angles for each character - its a PITA to change the outfits on each - trust me I know - I am abt halfway thru putting Santa suits on my villagers lol - dont think I am gonna have the patience to put the hats on them next lol
