The issue about adjusting the time on your clock can have disaterous results as been reported by many.

So with us being forced to adjust the time on our clocks, but backwards, what effects can we expect to see?

I realize its only 1 hour but on hard in 1 hour, a lot can happen.

I have posted some advice on that topic before, but I'll repeat it here so that people can find it. I'll even make it 'sticky' until after the fall time change.

Normally, the time changes involved with Daylight Savings Time don't affect the game, because they occur overnight when most people aren't playing the game. If your game is off overnight, the clock will be adjusted before you start it back up in the morning, and there will simply be one more or one less hour since the game was last run.

The only time you have to be concerned about the time change is when you are actually running the game at the time the system clock is adjusted. It's best just to turn the game off for the night twice a year when the DST changes occur.

Could you enlighten us as to some of the ramifications if the game is left on during the change?

Same unexpexted results as setting the clock ahead?
(Yes I said expect the same unexpected results.)

Setting the clock ahead one hour is not usually a problem for the game, and I'm pretty sure that I've done that during testing without disastrous results. The problem comes in setting the clock back in time. At the very least, your stats and farm cycle will probably get messed up, along with any nursing mothers you have in your tribe. At the worst, it could kill every villager in your game.

I usually leave my computers off during the time changes for pragmatic reasons. Having spent my entire career consulting in large mainframe data center environments, I know that time-change weekends are a big deal when it comes to computers and more complex than most people realize.

I am rather new to the game, so when you refer to turn off the game, do you mean pause it?

When I mean by turning the game off is actually quitting the game using the Quit selection on the main menu. Simply pausing the game doesn't actually exit the application; it's still running on your computer and may be affected by the time change.

Okay thank you. I usually just pause the games I'm usually really interested but I was never really sure what the Quit function was for and if it effected the game in anyways. Thank you for the enlightenment.

In 2005 and 2006, Daylight Saving Time begins for most of the United States at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of April. Time reverts to standard time at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday of October.
Beginning in 2007, Daylight Saving Time is extended one month and begins for most of the United States at:
2 a.m. on the Second Sunday in March
to
2 a.m. on the First Sunday of November.
