He seems to put all of the villagers in a trance, or as if he has hypnotised them to do as he commands. So all he does is form some rainbow and bubbles, and all of the zombie villagers drop what they're doing and "dance"? Where's the discipline?

Check their dislikes, they may dislike dancing and that may be why they don't join.
