Sorry for the delay in response, yes Fireworks in an art program. I normally use Fireworks or Paint Shop Pro 7. As for free ones u might try Picasa from google. Not sure if it will preserve transparency or not but its worth a shot

I went to www.download.com and I found a free download of Paint.NET, which requires a download of Microsoft.NET to work, and it preserves the transparency. I had to play around with it a little bit, but if you are having the issue with the white around the carrying items, you can use the Magic Wand feature on it to select the white you want to remove. Just make sure the tolerance is set low, or it will select the white colors from the baby and the bones.

I also read a review on a program called Gimp that is supposed to be the cream of the crop for free art programs. Read about it in Maximum PC this morning. Might want to give that a shot for those seeking free art programs.
