when i first started play vv, i played with the help on and i got like 3 choices within an hour of playing....now it seems i don't get any choices at all...what spawns the choices to come up?...how often are they supposed to come up?...does having more villagers on the island make the choice box come up more often?

thanks,

d.c.

From what I have read, the island events you are referring to come up on an average of 1 per 20 hours of playing time.

Of course it maybe more, maybe less but that has been the average stated.

Joxer is right, but at the onset of play you should receive two within the first hour of playtime. Then the average is one every 20 yours or so.

That "average" is so way off in my games, it's not funny.
1041 hrs / 9 events (including the opening ones) = one every 115 hours... another games 1614/7 - that's one every 230 hours... and the others are averaging out one every 150 hours. Difficult to explain this consistent inconsistency with the "average"

True, my game has 480 hours with 6 events so Im way below the average too. You can go a long time without an event then you might get several pretty quickly. I dont know, havent played the game long enough or several times to claim to know much.

Yah - and events are really a fun part of the game - which I'm definitely missing out on

They way you play VV can dramatically affect how often you see Island Events. If you check a stable game only every few days, you will see events much less often. Here is why: At the same time that an event occurs, the next one is scheduled (you can see this in the game log). In my testing, after the first hour of play the events are scheduled to occur anywhere from 12-22 hours after the current event. The next event will not occur until its scheduled time (if the game is running) or the next time the game is launched after the scheduled time has passed. The problem for most people is that, if you don't check the game right when the next event is scheduled to occur, then the time between events will be even longer.

I don't leave my games running; I always pause them. Also, I've accumulated the 5 games sequentially... "finished" one game before starting another. And if the events are scheduled to occur even with the game paused, I've been playing "live" too consistently and for too long periods to explain that poor ratio.

If you don't mind doing a little work to help figure out why your events are so rare, send me a PM and I'll work with you on it. I'd like to know why your results are so different from mine!

I should also mention that those times that I mentioned are for games running at 2X speed.

Even if the event is scheduled for when the game is paused, you need to actually "play" that game to trigger the event and have the next event scheduled.

So if you have game 1 on pause and never look at it (say for a week) you'll only have one event appear.

nope... the times I'm talking about occurred when the pauses were normally no more than 8-10 hours tops, and quite often not more than 2-4 hours.... and I was most assuredly playing
