Until one of the mods replies, try uninstalling and reinstalling it. Shut down any other programs you may have running before you reinstall

That error is usually caused by your computer's display capabilities or settings. The game requires certain display settings and DirectX functions in order to run. I have written a troubleshooting guide, which you can access here.

If none of those things help, then you probably will not be able to run the game. The best thing to do at this point is to contact the site where you purchased the game and ask them for a refund.
