After only 9 days of playing Virtual Villagers, I am saddened as it is over. There is nothing left to do. I was so dishearted at the end, not would I would like to have happened.

Sure, I could start another game, another user, but whats the point? It will just wind up like the first one, in only a few days.

Seems to me that if the developers are working on a part 2 of VV, it should in all instances be an addon to VV1. If not, whats the point in keeping a game that you cannot do anything else with?

I honestly cant believe I spent $19.95 for this. Maybe a $4.99 Wal-Mart special would have been sufficient. I know they devs put allot of work into it, but they should have really done more to increase game play. And if VV2 is going to be an outcome like VV1, then I really wouldnt waste my time or money. And even if they make VV2 as an addon, I dont see where they could command another $19.95 when there are top games out there whos addons are under half the cost of the original release.

Sorry guys, but if nothing comes out of VV2, then in all likelyhood, I will probably uninstall VV1. Pitty really, as games such as these are popular. Im still playing Sim-City, over a year now, its never ending! And I paid $20 for it too.

I do understand what you mean as far as pricing goes. VV is sorta like a cross of The Sims (not Sims 2) and the city /strategy games like Civilization and Childern of the Nile. All can be purchased for under $15 now since they are older though more complex in game play. However if you look at the current pricing of all the game purchased over the net you'll see that they all, reguardless of size or type, cost about the same. I think this is more the decided by the publishers then the game designers. At least I hope so.

If you start another game on a different setting. Or with a goal you set for yourself it really does play out differently. True the puzzels are all done exactly the same way but how YOU chose to do them and in what order you do them makes a big difference. Like most things in life you get out of something what you put in.

I agree that these type of games are very popular and this one has huge potential, with proper care, and I hope to see it evolve into something much larger. Keep in mind that the team maybe small at this time and that the games we have both mentioned cost huge sums of money to produce. Maxis was a small company at one time and if you ever played the very first Sim City game and compare that to Sim City 4 you'll understnad what I mean. I wish them all the luck in the world cuz I really think they are onto something here.

Well said Izzie. My very first simulation type game was SimTown, which I quickly out grew. From that one game, I was hooked on these types of games, but sadly they're few and far between.

Out of all the downloadable games on line that I've played the trial period for and really liked, this is the only one that I actually bought. I also completed VV in a short time, but like any game I've played and won, the challenge now comes from playing the game on harder levels or adding your own brand of difficulty.

Also, each Villager does things differently, such as you might get one that likes to run or one that doesn't. Or you might get one that dislikes bushes or the ocean and refuse to be a farmer by running away.

Add in the events that can occur to help you or set you back, either way giving each game its own uniqueness.

I agree!!! I think once the cave opened up it should have taken you to a whole new level. Kudos to you for doing it in nine days!! I think mine took 3 weeks total. Once I finally had a whole weekend to devote to the game I was disappointed as well. I'll be happy when I can start the new VV2!!

The pricing of these games is indeed set by the publishers, and the market. They basically all go for 19.95, regardless of how big or small they are, although there are _many_ discounts and sales at the various portals, etc, so it is possible to pay less.

VV2 will be designed to have more diverse reply. These really are designed to be 'software toys' like SimCity, etc, and we are trying to make changes that will make them more unpredictable and less linear.

I'm also very disappointed in the outcome of this game. After all the care and nurturing I lavished on my little villagers, it has just descended into a big laundry party. To see the fully equipped research table just sit there while the Master Scientists opt for washing their clothes is disheartening. I wonder if this is how God feels looking down on Earth. At least the Scientists could have continued to rake up tech points so you could see how high a score you could get. I wonder who this game was tested on before it went to market, because I can't imagine anyone being pleased with the ending, non/ending. It seems like a lot of effort went into making this game, the little folks are so endearing, it's just a shame to have such a disappointing ending. Even my 6 year old grandson said, "It's boring now," and went off to play other games. He was very disappointed that he did not get to explore other parts of the island, or see who was hiding in the cave. I've started 2 more villages, one on normal, and one on hard, so we'll see what happens with them. Sigh.
