In his details he dislikes fish and snakes - how can you feed someone who runs from the food bin whenever he sees a fish - he cant farm as each time he goes to the sea he runs away!! it is hilarious to see him running all round the island with the comment 'running away' I just keep dragging him back to the food bin (he got injured researching and his health is only at 86 so I need to get him better

You could also put him on healing.
As I understand farming AND healing are the two jobs that are the easiest for the villagers. They hardly ever get injured and they heal themselves a bit when they are weakened.
But 86 is not bad, I mean I have a village right now (on hard) where all my 9 villagers were under 30, but still survived and are now a blooming village.

Don't worry I have a village who likes fish but hates blue; he refuses to fish and won't swim. By far the most annoying villager is the one who hates lifting and working so he doesn't want to do anything. I flagged his breeding skill and he runs away from every female in the game; if he gets sick I'm not letting the healer anywhere near him. Stupid lazy villager.
