I'm relatively new to the game, in that I've played the demo through about 3 or 4 times, but just recently purchased the full version, so many things are still unclear/new to me. I have two looming questions as I am getting started.

I don't want to know the full fish list, as discovering that will be part of the fun, but is there a pattern to all of this? Can I guess, for example, what type of fin the offspring of a Twin-fin X + a Speckled Y will have? Or what type of body? Or is it all randomly decided upon and placed in the code, with no discernable pattern aside from it being the same from game to game? If there IS a pattern of some sort that I could figure out, I would like to figure it out on my own, so please don't tell me, I just don't want to be LOOKING for a pattern that doesn't exist.

Also, is there one of each fin-type for each body-type? Or do some body-types not have all the fin-types? Or do ANY of the body-types have all the fin-types?

I believe the answers to these two questions will help me plan my moves as I discover my way through this well thought out, exciting game. Thanks in advance!

Yes, you will figure that out. Each Twin-fin and Speckled breeding will yield the same result.

Or what type of body?

Same thing with the body type. A shark breed with a groper will always yield the same body type.

Every body type can have every fin type. There are two body types and two fin types that can only come from eggs, or by using the strange read liquid. If you have those four fish, you can breed every type of fish in FT.

Thank you very much! That helps a lot. Now I can start trying to piece together all the combinations, not just by chance. Also, I have a better idea of how many fish there are total (I saw that there are over 400, but I have been avoiding any threads that I think might tell me exactly how many). I really appreciate your response!

The question is Unknown to many but yes they will yield the same results but it all has to do with Genetics.
