They ran out on food, cleaned the beach ect. Now what should they do to get more food?

Check your tech level screen and you'll see what you need to move to the next level of farming (which they really need to do before cleaning the beach and so on). Also, click menu, and help... there's a great baasic guide there to help you prioritize what you need to do
