I started playing this game yesterday and have become totatlly addicted. I hated playing Sims (the people were too stupid for me to deal with) but this game I like.

I'm just afraid my village is going to die off.

I completed the hut, cleaning the beach and clearing the blockage. But still have no master builders.

I have them gathering berries but still have no master farmers. And, the berry bush is almost empty and they haven't figured out another food source yet.

I have no master scientists yet.

I have one woman caring for her 3rd child. And another one that has had her first baby forever. The first one has birthed and cared for 2 in the time that this chic still have the one. Is this baby the golden child?

I have completed the 4 flower/plant puzzle.

Please help me before I drive myself nuts over this. Can I still save my village? I don't care if you provide spoilers. I need help. My village is doomed. ;-)

Patience? What is that? ;-P

Thanks, read through those and still clueless. Any hints on how to get a master farmer or master builder?

The only way to get a master anything is buy the villagers doing the particular task. So if you want a master builder, keep him building something. Likewise with a master farmer. Keep him/her gathering food.

No... masters come later in the game... keep your guys researching so you can get level 2 in farming quickly. YOu need to get your tech levels up... in the process your people get more experience... The next game you play, forget about cleaning the beach so early.. and concentrate on getting level 2 in farming so your food can sustain your population. Food first, then population increase after.. haha

PS: Since there's nothing to build right now, switch your builder to research; if you've got over 400 berries, switch your farmer to research and keep an eye on food levels, and let him go back to farming to top up your berry supply when needed.... otherwise, research, research, research and buy farming tech

I have 29 berries left. My villagers are going to die.

So I should buy farming tech before building tech? Good to know.

Was that kid taking forever because he/she was the golden child?

chas... this game isn't going to be finished in a couple of hours, that's the truth. If you have a child, use that child to pick the mushrooms that spring up.. that might help you to survive until you can buy farming tech. Building tech is no use to your villagers if they haven't got enough food to eat! And the golden child is a long way away... you'll have to have level 3 in every tech before that GC appears
Try putting the game on 1/2 speed... that might help your villagers survive (with mushrooms) long enough for you to get farming.

I realize this isn't going to be completed in a few hours. I was just curious if they could be salvaged. But with no food and farming tech still 3000 tech points away they were doomed.

I restarted the village. I did alot of things different and I am gaining tech points alot quicker this time.

Thanks for your help.

The new villages are doing much better with your help. I was even able to buy the construction and then farming on one of my villages and they survived.

Thanks again for the help and getting me on the right track.

If I'm in desperate need of tech points quickly, I've found that if you stay on top of your researchers you can get tech points faster. What I mean is that they stand there and research, then do this funny side step and continue researching, then walk a bit before going back to researching. Once they do their two-stepping you'll notice your tech points have gone up. At this point you can pick them up and have them start over rather than letting them continue on their own as you've already gained your points the continued research is for naught. With three to six people researching it gets quite challenging since they tend to overlap one another alot.

I just found something very interesting. I have 5 little boogers running around my village and it's alot easier to get them all on the mushroom when it's at 1/2 speed. This way I can get my people on researching and not worry about overloading my one lonely farmer dude.

Do we earn tech points for each person gaining experience on the duty they are assigned? Do we earn tech points if they are successful at something they aren't assigned to at the time?

Just curious.

No. Tech points are only gained at the research table, which like all the other tasks, increases personal skill levels

Well, i finally got my villagers to fish, so i felt i could sleep with the game on a higher speed. I awoke to find my entire village dead except one very weak 5-year old little girl. ~sob~ So, i guess i survive on mushrooms and hope for a male baby in a barrel.

I'm curious as to how that happened. Were you playing in Hard Mode, because I find it's dangerous to leave the game on 2x for too long unattended in that mode. Did you leave more than one farmer selected, and were any doctors selected (preferably two in case one doctor gets sick and needs healing)?

I'm not positive what went wrong, but i have a sneaking suspicion that my women were dragging every available man to the hut. I had put them all on breeding for a period of time. Before i went to bed, i switched them to their more respectable proffessions, but i think they preferred the conjugal hut to research.

So we don't get tech points for learning to farm, build, heal or breed? Only for research?

I finished my first village. All 16 puzzles, a population of 90 and only 9 deaths.
