When I look at the map it seems like there is a clearing to the NW. Am I missing something?

Yes, yes you are. Something will become available there as you progress. Try taking people all over the island each time you gain technology.

i think Lucid means NW side of map over the rocks.not in this game Lucid,maybe the next i don't know.

Isn't NW the top-left corner of the map, near the sparkly stone? There's definately something to create there.
