I am wondering what I can do when the red health status bar goes down but no one is sick. I've tried taking them to eat, drink, swim in the lagoon (when possible) and I can't be sure any of this is working because there is no movement in the health bar. Actually, I'm not sure why the bar is down with some kids, or adults who aren't sick or elderly.

So I'm asking for reasons why this happens, and ideas on what to do when it does. If you'd rather PM me, that would work for me.

I read somewhere that when you make your villagers harvest if their health points are down they'll go back up.

If you check the ldwlog.txt in the VV directory, you'll find it goes down because they've been injured - usually at the research table or building. Taking them to the bin DOES work, but to see an increase on the bar, you have to take them a number of times. I don't like leaving them working when the bar is down 2 notches, cos if they get injured again, it drops way further down... my theory is that's how they eventually become weakened even though there's plenty of food - they keep getting re-injured before they've had a chance to recover. Could be a reason to suggest ldw builds in sick leave into the next game

Put them to farming or taking care of a child and they will heal and not get injured. I tried doctor on some of the older ones once though and the next morning they hadn't healed any.

A failing sick female will die and take the child with her.

The ldwlog.txt file said it all. Thanks so much, I understand this much better.

So the food bin works, but any luck with drinking water or swimming in the lagoon?

One of the babies was born with their health down a bit. Guess he got dropped on his head in the delivery room.

BTW, is there a way to get the ldwlog.txt to collect more than one day? Does it log all the villages I'm playing?

the log is cleared everytime you open the game - and it will record information for any village you visit that session

So far, it's only recording the last village I went into. I put numbers on my villages and attach that number to the villagers so I know where I am. When I came out of the game last, I was in village 4, and all the recordings were from various village 4 names.

That village is weird, anyway. I have 3 villagers all named the same thing.

Well something about injuries isn't working right in my game. And even when I have them eat, get the message they feel better there is no movement in the health bar. So I checked the log and what I am reading makes no sense at all. Maybe a dev could explain it better. If you read the section in the log concerning Juro you will see what I am talking about. Sat Sep 02 23:31:13 2006: Juro healed one point. Current health: 88
Sat Sep 02 23:31:13 2006: Juro healed one point. Current health: 84
There is no mention of how he lost 4 points since this whole time I was having him eat and drink water.
I'm getting frustrated and confused over the lack of a good way to heal the injured.

You don't really "heal" them in the way sick people are healed. They will eventually get their health back through eating over time. The problem comes if they keep getting re-injured before they ARE fully healthy again. Not sure why your log doesn't show Juro being injured between those times though.
There is usually no movement in the health bar on one message I think simply because it doesn't increase by one-point increments. I think you've got to gain maybe 5 health points before the bar will move.

The log doesn't list everything that goes on in the game; many kinds of events are not recorded. That could explain what you're seeing with Juro's health. Also, if you have games in more than one player slot (which doesn't seem likely in your situation), villagers with the same name, but in different games, can make interpreting the log a little challenging.

I've noticed that most of the time, when they go from baby to toddler, their health bar isn't all the way up. Don't know why. Maybe the stress of being weaned, needing to eat solid food, etc. The bar always goes all the way up very quick though. :]

I only get concerned when a villager is sick. I've noticed, at least with my scenarios, villagers tend to recover (bar all the way up) on their own.

I've only got a single doctor and my villagers have only been ill a handful of times. I don't tend to worry about them unless it actually states they are sick -- they'll slowly heal on their own if you're not making them work constantly. Would you like it if you had to work 24/7?

How do you heal in real life? Bed rest. You can't force a sprained ankle to be good again. You just have to look after people's needs and wait for them to heal.
