I have watched this morning as 4 of my women have popped up with babies while just standing there. No men anywhere near by. My 68 year old Master Scientist was just standing near the idol (not yet carved) and BAM baby in hand. Hope she lives through the experience!

That's just a small graphic glitch - a delay in displaying the baby. The women were already nursing babies, but they were displayed briefly without the infant. That happens most often when entering the game or returning to the main screen.

I thought that at first, but the one person doesn't have any breeding skill at all. Wouldn't she get at least a little bit even if she got a baby on the very first try?

If there a male anywhere in your tribe with a little breeding skill.... he will impregnante anyone who is willing to let him ...

And only the villager who initiates the "encounter" will gain skill at breeding.

I've noticed some women produce even before they enter the hut. Say I manage to get her paired up by the crops, she takes two steps towards the hut, the man continues on, but she stops because suddenly after one kiss she has a baby.

That is also normal behavior. The trip to the hut is unnecessary, and many players don't even give the villagers the chance to go have some privacy. If you've ever played Fish Tycoon, you've seen how breeding works in Virtual Villagers (except the fish don't get to make a trip behind the coral)!

Yeah, I have FT - that's why I bought VV. And I'm hoping that Plant Tycoon is on Windows very, very soon. I just thought it was funny.

I also, totally by accident, got one guy to go into the hut with TWO women at the same time. The first woman was almost in, he was crossing paths with another guy that I was aiming the second woman for, but she kissed the first guy, and all three ended up in the hut together while the other fellow went on to farming.

I had a couple make a baby on the spot -- they didn't bother to even say they were going to the hut. Just boom, a baby in the arms and the father goes about his business.

Some of my villagers just aren't concerned about privacy...
