You need to get level 2 farming, so you can grow crops. But I think you should click "menu", then "help". There's a quick, useful guide there that can help you avoid pitfalls like that

If you have kids, start searching for mushrooms and make them pick them.

If you have more than one kid there is a trick to have them all pick the same mushroom. PM for the trick so as not to spoil.
