I've only just started, only have my original seven villagers, and I have a villager that is not feeling well. Is there anything I can do?

Yes, you can heal your sick villager. If you go to the game's Help (accessible from the Main Menu), you can see illustrated instructions on how to do that. Just scroll through the help screens until you reach the section on sick villagers.
