I'm sure that if we could access some sort of multilingual dictionary we'd find that a lot of the names mean something silly in a language other than English. (reminds me of a friend back in high school who came to Canada from Germany - she had a hard time getting used to people talking about eating "pickles" cause in German that word means pimples...lol)

I actually have a request of the lovely people at LDW though, while we're on the subject of names. I remember from studying Latin about feminine and masculine endings (probably similar in Italian, Spanish, whatever) and it would be a lot easier to keep track of gender in a big crowd if all the female names ended in a vowel or something? it's not like you can always tell from the tiny little pics if a villager is male or female - except the bald guy and the neanderthal of course...lol.
